Project Value: £6m

Main Contractor:  T&B Contractors

Cavendish Square is a new research-led cancer diagnostics and treatment centre located in a beautiful Edwardian Grade II Listed building in Central London. The project is set over two floors, Ground and Lower Ground, with a plantroom area in the Basement.

In the Ground Floor, the Entry, Reception and Waiting room are located in the main Heritage area of the building, where the original features such as ceiling rosettes and fire places, have been restored and embraced to be the focal point of these rooms. The remainder of the Ground Floor offers a number of consultation rooms and chemotherapy treatment bays with all the necessary staff and patient support accommodation.

Project Value: £1 million

Main Contractor:  T&B Contractors

The works included demolition and fit-out of existing areas to create a new day surgery unit in the Mulberry Café and three new lobbied bedrooms on Wiltshaw ward for private patients.  Works were carried out sequentially with the day surgery completed as Phase 1 followed by Wiltshaw Ward as Phase 2.

The day surgery unit benefits from wonderful daylight thanks to a large central glass roof. The unit is designed to be open plan whilst ensuring visual gender seperation.

Project Value: £8million`

Main Contractor:  Mansell Construction Services Ltd

Ravenscourt Park Hospital was originally built as The Royal Masonic Hospital and is listed as a fine example of 1930’s modern architecture.

The brief was to refurbish the accommodation to provide 106 beds, 6 “ultra clean” operating theatres and a physiotherapy department within the confines of the existing structure.

In 2008 Ansell & Bailey secured planning permission for a major redevelopment of the site as a specialised private care unit.  The scheme included a radiotherapy department below the garden and reflecting pool as well as upgrading and remodelling the existing accommodation.

Project Value: £3 million

Main Contractor:  Cuffe PLC

The project was part refurbishment and part new build. The elevational treatment of the curtain walling was designed to harmonise the old and the new facades.

Through extensive patient consultation the treatment area layout was developed to suit different patients needs.  Ten of the eighteen bays were grouped in a circular layout with the nurse base as the focal.  This provided a visual connection for the patients with each other and the staff.  Six of the bays were arranged to face outwards – providing a view and privacy.  For added privacy “intelligent glass” dividers were placed between the bays. Two private rooms were provided for patients requiring more intensive medical care.

Project Value:  £1.8m

Main Contractor:  DW Bevan

Accommodation included 15 single beds with en-suites of which 4 are designed for HDU patients.

The design challenge was to create a ‘hotel’-like environment whilst not compromising clinical requirements.  The single bedrooms are designed to a high standard of finish and careful consideration of materials was required.  The bedrooms incorporate overnight facilities for relatives that can be concealed in a bespoke fitted furniture arrangement.  Innovative decentralised staff base design was an integral part of the scheme, promoting the feeling of one-to-one care
