Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust – Oncology

We’re happy to announce the completion of our latest project: a state-of-the-art. Outpatients Facility. This space, formerly used for medical records and later as a vaccination centre, has been transformed into a calm, comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Located on the Ground Floor and easily accessed from the main hospital corridor, this new facility includes: – 10 Consult/Exam Rooms – Treatment Room – Phlebotomy Room – Quiet Space – Staff Room – Ancillary support spaces.

Our design prioritises simplicity and clarity, making it easy to navigate while ensuring support spaces are efficiently placed for optimal workflow. We used evidence-based design principles to select calming colours and plant imagery, promoting a sense of wellbeing. Stakeholder engagement was key in shaping the layout, imagery, and colours, focusing on enhancing the patient experience. We balanced colours to aid way-finding and avoid overwhelming patients. A cohesive palette and repeated plant imagery create connectivity and ease of navigation throughout the space.

Entering the facility, visitors are greeted by an open, welcoming atmosphere with a complementary colour scheme, offering reassurance and comfort.

Special thanks to Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Christopher Knight BA(Hons) MSc APMP, Storm Building Limited, Georgia Burt and Matt Livey for their contributions.
