New Featured Project – Royal Free Hospital Level 3 ITU

The Royal Free Hospital 3NA ITU project consists of the design of a modern 12 bed ITU unit as an extension to the newly built 8 bed HDU on the 3rd floor of the hospital. The aim was to create an EPIC (Enhanced Postoperative Intensive Care) Unit.

The project includes the addition of the new bed bays equipped with the latest and most efficient medical equipment, and up to the latest standards, and refurbishing the existing HDU which includes the demolition of the central core of the ward to build the new ancillary area for a 20 bed facility.

All areas above, below and adjacent to the site remained mainly occupied and operational throughout the works. Furthermore during the construction with the completion of the refurbishment of the HDU, this section was handed over back to the Trust which then allowed them to temporarily support the hospital with admitting the Covid Positive patients, while maintaining a secure environment for the rest of the construction to carry on.
