The 12 bed intensive care unit and 7 bed high dependency unit is the largest critical care unit specialising in cancer in the UK.
The use of intelligent glass gives the unit a sense of space and natural light throughout. State of the art monitoring and recording complement this unit.
Clinical lead Dr. Tim Wigmore said “The architects and contractors have done an amazing job of transforming our vision into reality. At no point have they ever said no, but I know we gave them some serious challenges.”

The sixteen bed major trauma ITU on the St Mary’s site at Paddington is a project which is typical if Ansell and Bailey’s work. A complex refurbishment on the ninth floor of the QEQM building was completed early and within budget and was very well received by ITU personnel.
The layout allows for flexible numbers and separation of men and women with open plan male & female areas and a run of single rooms in between.
Artwork in the access corridor by Bridget Riley was protected and restored as part of the contract.
